From approximately 1330, some bascinets were fitted with a hinged visor. Helmets like this had a visor with a pivot point at the center of the helmet bowl. This type of helmet was especially popular in the Holy Roman Empire and remained in use there well into the 15th century. Hinged visors appeared throughout Europe.
