The chest is in reclaimed solid elm wood

The 'S' shaped curved backrests were common in chairs produced in China for hundreds of years

and they make wonderful and unusual decorative items

They include fittings on the back of the frame so that they can be mounted on a wall as either portrait or landscape

with two doors and two small drawers rather than one of each

Carved Panel - 'Humility', Black Lacquer Dressing Table The chest is in reclaimedRepresenting one of the 'Four Nobles', this particular panel, in our black lacquer finish, depicts chrysanthemums which symbolise humility. This central carving along with the surrounding scrolling dragons is made from camphor, a wood which is easy to carve, the outer frame being made of fir wood. The panels can be bought individually or as a set of four.
