Starting in 1891, Japanese potters began fashioning tea cups with elaborate hand painted designs with the word 'Nippon' stamped on their bases, an English word mirroring the pronunciation of the Japanese word for Japan. In 1933, seven year old Kitty was gifted three of these tea cups by a doctor's wife who was on her grandpa's milk route. Now, years
