Constructed of a silvered bronze alloy with multi coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, presents as Maltese Cross with black and white enameled obverse with central ring inscribed Verdun 1914 1918, crossed enameled bronze alloy swords pinned to obverse of ribbon, maker marked on reverse Fleck & Sohn, Hamburg, measuring 40 mm (h) x 39 mm (w), in near extremely fine condition.
