Germany, Imperial. A First War Period Heer Letter Opener Auction part of the 359th Infantry(Heer Briefffner). Constructed of bronze, featuring a 95 mm long blade set into a bronze handle, the obverse of which is ribbed and adorned with a central black enameled 1914 Iron Cross, flanked at each end by dual oak leaves and acorns, the reverse with a dimpled pattern bearing one pear of oak leaves and acorns, unmarked, measuring 13 mm (w) x 193 mm (l), in better than very fine condition.
