Germany, Federal Republic. A German Cross in Silver, 1957 Version GTRexclude with the aforementioned chinstrap issues(Deutsches Kreuz in Silber 1957 Ausfhrung). Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight pointed radiant starburst, overlaid by a central silvered War Merit Cross with Swords, situated within a circular laurel leaf, wrapped in ribbon and joined together at the bottom by a plaque bearing an institution date of 1941, trimmed along both the inner and outer edges with red enameled borders, the reverse with five rivets
