Instituted in 1863. In bronze, engraver marked "C. RADNITZKY" on the obverse, measuring 33 mm (w) x 38. 8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, edge nicks, spotting and light contact marks overall, original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, better than very fine. Footnote: The Distinguished Service Medal was instituted on September 24, 1863 and was awarded to "soldiers and
