In silver gilt, an oval medallion with floral designs at its four ends, obverse centre shows the ancient Japanese crown and bird of paradise, reverse plain, measures 38. 8mm (w) x 46. 3mm (h inclusive of ball suspension), weighs 20. 5 grams, missing ribbon, dark patina, minor wear, very fine. In the original case of issue, near black lacquer with Kanji on the lid, purple silk and velvet interior, measures 70 mm (w) x 97 mm
