It makes a nice understory tree under large trees with canopies like oak trees. It has 8 to 12 inch long leaves shaped like oak leaves hence the name. The flowers are white or pink, and are delicately beautiful. You won't get the large softball sized blooms you would see on the non native French Hydrangeas, but this native is prolific and stunning in its own right. This shrub holds interest even when not
