A Romanian Order Of Cultural Merit; 1St Class Knight GTRexclude Leveson-Gower - Queen's South AfricaType I (Carol II 1931 1940): Silver gilt with light purple enamels, obverse centrepiece with the left facing bust of Carol II, reverse centrepiece inscribed "PRIN CULTURA LA LIBERTATE" (Through Culture Toward Liberty), 40. 8 mm x 61. 5 mm inclusive of its crown suspension, original triangular ribbon, replacement enamels, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of Cultural Merit was instituted by Royal Decree 2684 on July 19, 1931 and came in four classes.
