Vintage Irvin B. Foster & Sons Sportswear "Type G-1 Spec" US Navy Flight Jacket Biker worn in and lightly fadedIrvin B. Foster & Sons began manufacturing the G 1 flight jacket in the early 1960s. The jacket had been in production since the 40s, but starting in 1961 the Navy gave contracts to two companies: Foster & Sons and Ralph Edwards Sportswear. The patterns for the jackets were supplied to both companies so the fit was nearly identical, but the brands still had their own subtleties.
