Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A War Medal (Gallipoli Star) Auction Oshima died on June 6(Harp Madalyasi). Instituted in 1915. In silver with red paint, ball finials on the tips of the star points, measuring 54. 3 mm (w) x 51. 5 mm (h), safety pin attachment, scattered chipping and wear evident in the red paint, contact marks, better than fine. Footnote: The Gallipolli Star was a military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire. It is also known as the Ottoman War Medal. It was instituted by Sultan Mehmed V on March 1, 1915 for gallantry
