30's Pastel Hand-Painted Velvet Bag with Gold-Leaf Detail by Mary Chess cynthia howie below knee lengthAn exquisite and rare Mary Chess hand painted and stenciled velvet bag! I suspect this bag to have been a promotional piece from the early days of the Mary Chess perfume company circa late 1930's. I scoured the internet for any information about this bag, but could find none. I only found one other similar example that was described as made of 'carpet like material'. The velvet has a sky blue ground color and has whimsical floral pattern hand painted
