This fibulae were worn by Germanic ladies in pairs on their shoulders. Often a chain with beads or other jewelry was attached between these brooches. Through the Roman legions that often consisted of more than 50% Germanic Auxiliae around the end of the empire, brooches such as these were spread throughout Europe and North Africa.
